I have worked in television/video for more than five years and currently enjoy a career as a freelance photographer and videographer. My work has been printed in a variety of local Albuquerque publications including The Alibi, Local IQ, Albuquerque Arts and Business Weekly. It’s still exciting each and every time my images make it to print.

Long term, I plan to continue my career as a filmmaker. However, my excitement for still photography was birthed from my frustration with filmmaking. A film is an intricate puzzle of departments that takes an incredible amount of force to move forward. Ideas I had grown passionate about were decaying and falling apart in front of me. I find still photography so much more accessible. With photography I can light, direct, edit, and bring to life the little worlds I envision.

I am heavily influenced by comic books. It’s an exciting visual medium. Comics feature bold characters in poses that stress urgency and caution, dynamic lighting, special effects, elaborate settings and striking outfits. It’s all so much grander and more fantastic than the world we live in.

On the film side, I particularly enjoy short format projects. Music videos and commercials allow more creative freedom. For the brief time you spend with a character in a commercial of music video you have to make so many assumptions about their environment and scenarios that you can be more dazzling and entertaining with the visuals.
